Workabee’s Commitment to Ethical Conduct and Social Responsibility

Workabee is dedicated to operating with the highest standards of ethical conduct and social responsibility. Our commitment extends to ensuring fair labour practices, promoting diversity and inclusion, and contributing positively to the communities in which we operate. This section outlines our adherence to key Australian legislative and policy frameworks.

13. Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) Statement

Workabee is committed to preventing and addressing modern slavery in all its forms within our operations and supply chains. We understand that modern slavery encompasses serious exploitation such as human trafficking, forced labour, and deceptive recruiting. While our current size may not mandate annual reporting under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth), we proactively implement measures to identify, assess, and mitigate modern slavery risks.

Our commitment includes:

    • Supply Chain Due Diligence: We conduct risk assessments of our direct suppliers and partners, particularly those involved in our Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services, to ensure they uphold ethical labour standards. We expect our suppliers to comply with all applicable anti-slavery laws and to implement their own measures to combat modern slavery.

    • Ethical Recruitment: We adhere to strict ethical recruitment principles. We ensure that all candidates and workers are recruited fairly, voluntarily, and are fully aware of their employment terms and conditions. We do not charge recruitment fees to workers.

    • Worker Protections: We provide clear avenues for workers to raise concerns, including grievances related to potential modern slavery practices, without fear of reprisal. We are committed to investigating any allegations thoroughly and taking appropriate action.

    • Training and Awareness: Our internal staff receive training on identifying and responding to modern slavery risks, ensuring they are equipped to uphold our commitment.

    • Transparency: We strive for transparency in our operations and supply chains, and we are committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to combat modern slavery.

14. Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP) and Engagement

Workabee recognises the importance of supporting Indigenous economic development and reconciliation. We align with the objectives of the Australian Government’s Indigenous Procurement Policy (IPP), which aims to increase opportunities for Indigenous businesses to secure government contracts and foster Indigenous employment.

Our commitment to the IPP includes:

    • Supporting Indigenous Businesses: We actively seek opportunities to engage with certified Indigenous businesses as suppliers and partners within our own operations, where feasible and appropriate.

    • Promoting Indigenous Employment: We are dedicated to facilitating employment and career development opportunities for Indigenous Australians through our recruitment and staffing services. We work to identify and address barriers to Indigenous participation in the workforce and promote culturally safe workplaces.

    • Partnerships and Collaboration: We are open to forming partnerships with Indigenous organisations and communities to further our shared goals of economic empowerment and social inclusion.

    • Cultural Awareness: We promote cultural awareness and respect within our organisation and encourage our clients to foster inclusive environments that value Indigenous cultures and contributions.

15. Federal Government Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Expectations

Workabee is a strong advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), recognising that diverse workforces drive innovation, enhance productivity, and better reflect the communities we serve. We are committed to meeting and exceeding the DEI expectations of the Federal Government, particularly as a potential supplier and partner to government agencies.

Our DEI commitment is demonstrated through:

    • Inclusive Recruitment: We implement bias-free recruitment and selection processes, focusing on merit, skills, and potential. Our aim is to ensure equal opportunity for all candidates, regardless of their background, gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, or other protected attributes.

    • Equitable Treatment: We ensure fair and equitable treatment for all workers, promoting a workplace culture free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying. We advocate for fair pay, professional development, and opportunities for advancement.

    • Diverse Talent Pools: We actively cultivate and present diverse talent pools to our clients, understanding that diverse teams lead to better decision-making, broader perspectives, and stronger organisational performance.

    • Accessibility: We strive to make our services, communications, and digital platforms accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities.

    • Continuous Improvement: We regularly review our DEI initiatives and outcomes, seeking feedback and implementing improvements to ensure our practices are truly inclusive and effective.

By upholding these principles, Workabee not only complies with legal and policy requirements but also reinforces its role as a responsible and ethical corporate citizen, contributing positively to a more inclusive and equitable Australian society.
